PUTRAJAYA, July 3- Five new Covid-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours, all involving Malaysians.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said three were imported involving Malaysians, while the other two also involved Malaysians and have been referred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

He said nine recoveries were reported and there were only 81 active cases left. The total number of patients discharged so far is 8,446 or 97.7% of the total number of 8,684 cases.

Two patients are still in the intensive care unit (ICU) and both require respiratory assistance.

There were no new deaths, with the toll remaining at 121 for more than two weeks.
