PUTRAJAYA, July 7: The health ministry today announced six new Covid-19 cases, all involving Malaysians.

The new infections comprise four imported cases and two local infections in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

They bring the infection tally to 8,674, with 72 active cases still receiving treatment as of noon today. Two patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), with both requiring respiratory assistance.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that five recoveries were recorded over the last 24 hours, bringing the number of recovered patients to 8,481 or 97.8% of the total number of cases..

There are no new deaths, with the toll remaining at 121.
