PETALING JAYA, July 24: A total of 227 people were caught flouting the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday, says Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement, Ismail said 62 of them were remanded, one was out on bail and the others were fined for taking part in activities that did not allow for social distancing as well as those that did not comply with SOPs.

Police have also detained 10 foreigners for immigration offences.

“The government will continue to act against anyone trying to enter the country illegally, and enforcement agencies will tighten our border control,” he said.

He also said 1,244 Malaysians returned from Laos, China, Qatar, Japan, India, Singapore, Cambodia, South Korea, Indonesia, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates through KLIA and klia2 yesterday.

He said only one of them had been taken to hospital while the others were allowed to undergo home quarantine.

“Starting today (July 24), those who return (from overseas) must undergo mandatory quarantine at a designated centre.”
