PETALING JAYA,Aug 21: Police arrested 86 people yesterday for flouting the recovery movement control order (RMCO), Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said in a statement today that eight of them had been remanded while 77 were fined. He did not state what their offences were.

Ismail also said police detained two foreigners for immigration offences. They were picked up at roadblocks set up as part of the Ops Benteng campaign.

“The government will take stern action against anyone who tries to enter the country illegally. The enforcement agencies will continue to tighten control of our borders,” he said.

He said police carried out 327 checks on individuals undergoing home quarantine and found that all of them complied with the SOPs.
