PUTRAJAYA,Sept 9: Police arrested 221 individuals yesterday over movement control order-related offences, including 118 at pubs and nightclubs.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 212 were issued compounds, eight remanded and one released on bail.

Among the other offences are failure to provide equipment for contact tracing, not wearing face masks, not following physical distancing measures and operating beyond permitted hours.

A total of 3,223 compliance task force teams were deployed involving 13,769 personnel who conducted checks at 61,462 premises including supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals, he said in a statement.

On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 25,688 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to yesterday and were quarantined.

Sixty-eight tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 15,230 have been allowed to return home. Some 10,390 are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
