PETALING JAYA, Sept 18: Despite stern action, Malaysians are continuing to flout Covid-19 procedures, with another 101 arrests made yesterday.

Eighty-six of those held were fined and the rest remanded.

Twenty-six were found not wearing face masks, 19 for breaching physical distancing rules, 13 for failing to record customers’ details, six for involvement in nightclub activities and three for operating businesses beyond operating hours.

Another 24 were found to have breached other recovery movement control order requirements, said Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement, Ismail said border control teams also detained 88 illegals and a smuggler yesterday, and seized eight vehicles.

He said 39,314 individuals who entered the country from July 24 to Sept 17 were placed at 69 hotels and government institutes for 14 days’ mandatory quarantine, and 20,893 were allowed home.
