BANGKOK, Sept 18 —  The Malaysian Defence Attaché Office here today hosted a hi-tea reception in conjunction with the 87th Malaysian Armed Forces Day.

Some 130 embassy staff and their family members were present for the celebration themed ‘Kedaulatan Negara Tanggungjawab Bersama’ (Country’s Sovereignty, Our Responsibility).

Present were Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand Jojie Samuel and embassy’s defence attaché, Brig-Gen Baharuddin Ahmad.

Armed Forces Day is celebrated on Sept 16 every year.

In his speech, Jojie said the Armed Forces Day is a celebration to honour the brave men and women in uniform who risked their lives in defending the nation’s peace and sovereignty.

“When there is a threat to the nation, the Armed Forces is the first at the scene.

“These are the people who sacrifice their lives to ensure our nation is safe and peaceful,” he said.
