PUTRAJAYA, March 12 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) initiative, Program Bicara Klik dengan Bijak (#BicaraKDB), has been nominated in Category 17 for Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society for the World Summit of Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2021.

In a statement today, the MCMC said the #BicaraKDB or Click Wisely Campaign: Online Public Awareness on Internet Safety and Security project was nominated as it focuses on online advocacy initiatives undertaken in 2020 to successfully implement programmes and activities to cultivate the new norms in the era of COVID-19.

The commission also described the nomination of the MCMC’s initiative as global recognition of the project developed in Malaysia.

In Category 17, MCMC will be competing with 19 other nominees from other countries, including the United States, Russia, Mexico, China, France, Cuba, Colombia and Qatar.

As such, the MCMC called on the public to vote for the project at https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/Prizes/2021/ before March 31.

MCMC had won the WSIS Prizes in 2016, 2017 and 2020 for its Kemaman Smart Community project, the E-Magazine Development at Schools project, and the “Klik Dengan Bijak” project, respectively.

The WSIS Prizes contest was developed in response to requests from the WSIS stakeholders to create an effective mechanism to evaluate projects and activities that leverage the power of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to advance sustainable development.

It is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
