ALOR SETAR, April 15 –The local authorities have reported that compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) at Ramadan bazaars throughout Kedah had been very disappointing, said Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Muhammad Sanusi took to Facebook to express his dismay on learning that a majority of traders and shoppers were not complying with the SOPs at the Ramadan bazaars.

He called on those operating stalls or shopping for food at Ramadan bazaars in the state to adhere to the SOPs which have been set by the National Security Council.

“Negligence or failure to observe the SOPs imposed can give rise to a new COVID-19 cluster which will result in the closure of all Ramadan bazaars and traders will lose their source of income,” he said.

Today, photographs and videos of crowds not complying with the SOPs at Ramadan bazaars in several states including Kedah, were shared on social media.

As such Muhammad Sanusi once again urged shoppers and Ramadan bazaar traders to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
