BANGKOK, May 4 — Thailand has advised its citizens in India to return home amid the COVID-19 crisis in many of the major Indian cities.

In its Facebook page, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi posted an advisory urging Thai nationals who have no reason to remain in India to return home.

It said those who need to return home urgently could take a special flight from New Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday (May 5). It is a special flight that will arrive in India to deliver medical assistance.

“There are two other repatriation flights available as well – one from Chennai to Bangkok on May 8 and New Delhi to Bangkok on May 15,” it said.

The advisory comes as India struggles to curb COVID-19 infections as the healthcare system in the country is overwhelmed with hospitals facing shortage of medical oxygen and oxygen related equipment, hospital beds, medicines and medical supplies.
