BATU PAHAT, May 7  — Having experienced hardship married couple from Taman Bistari, Tongkang Pechah here are now more empathetic towards the poor.

Nadia Amira Nordin, 32, who runs a hardware shop said she and her husband Md Hairul Md Noh, 37, had once faced a difficult moment in their life when they had to sell all their assets to survive. 

The mother of two said it all happened when both of them lost their jobs about five years ago due to their company’s downsizing exercise.

She said they then decided to open a hardware business, Mideck Dekorasi using their own savings.

“We are now more compassionate and will not hesitate to assist those in need, including persons with disabilities (PWDs).

 “Almost every month, we will hand out donations such as daily necessities, wheelchairs and walking sticks to those in need,” she said when met by Bernama, here today.

Nadia Amira said to ensure better coordination and distribution of their aid, she and her husband decided to collaborate with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as Skuad Muafakat 4ALL (SM4ALL) which focuses on carrying out charity activities and providing free hearse services for the underprivileged.

“We have been contributing to the SM4ALL fund for almost four years and all the donations will then be  distributed to those in need. We consider this charity work as our responsibility, apart from not wanting others to endure what we had experienced before.

“At the moment, my husband and I are focusing on carrying out this charity work around Tongkang Pechah and nearby areas,” she said, adding that any individual who needs help can come to her business premises.

Meanwhile, SM4ALL founder Wahyu Hidayat Jaapar said the NGO which has been operating for about eight years focuses on carrying out charity works and providing assistance to the asnaf and PWDs, in addition to helping with funeral arrangements and expenses.
