BALING, March 27 — The Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, wants graduates to play an important role as an agent of change in development to help the state and country achieve their visions.

His Highness said in efforts to build a holistic socio-economic environment, it was hoped that graduates could make a significant contribution to the development of excellent human capital.

“Graduates of quality should be capable of empowering various relevant skill areas in line with the requirement of the industry and dare to respond to challenges in venturing into entrepreneurship.

“Use the knowledge you have wisely to develop the society and country. Knowledge is a very valuable asset because the status of an individual, society and nation can only be raised with knowledge,” Sultan Sallehuddin said.

He said this in his speech which was delivered virtually at the 23rd convocation ceremony of Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS) in Kuala Ketil near here today.

Sultan Sallehuddin, who is also Chancellor of UniSHAMS, expressed his gratitude that despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the university continued with its teaching and learning sessions, albeit online.

According to His Highness, the effort and commitment of UniSHAMS had succeeded in turning out 1,287 graduates in various fields and levels of study at the present convocation.

“Indeed, the success of the graduates is a source of pride to parents, families, UniSHAMS staff and the state,” His Highness said.

In his speech, Sultan Sallehuddin also stressed that having adequate infrastructure of quality was very crucial to make studying more interesting and fun.

As such, His Highness wanted UniSHAMS to ensure its existing infrastructure was strengthened.
