KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah visited the Farnborough International Airshow 2022 (FIA2022) in Farnborough, United Kingdom, yesterday.

According to a post on the Istana Negara Facebook page today, His Majesty was greeted upon arrival at 10.30 am (local time) by Farnborough International chairman Paul Everitt and Farnborough International’s top officials.

Also present were Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief Gen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan and Malaysian High Commissioner Zakri Jaafar.

During the visit which ended at 3.45 pm local time, His Majesty was given a briefing by each representative of the participating companies and organisations.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also visited the Malaysia Pavilion, led by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and joined by 17 Malaysian companies, apart from three government agencies, namely the National Aerospace Industry Coordination Office, Teraju Bumiputera Corporation and Invest Selangor Berhad.

Apart from that, His Majesty also met with British Export Minister Andrew Griffith.

FIA2022 is a week-long biennial event beginning July 18, combining trade shows for the aerospace and defence industries and airshows.

MATRADE has been participating in this trade show since 2014.

According to the record, in 2021, Malaysia’s exports of aerospace parts and components totalled RM5.79 billion. Major export markets were France, China and the United Kingdom.
