KUCHING, Aug 4 — Sarawak police are leaving it to Bukit Aman to review the decision to transfer nine police officers to Sabah and Sarawak recently, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri.

He said the Sarawak state government was informed yesterday that none of these officers had reported for duty yet with the Sarawak police contingent.

“We will refer to Bukit Aman (for review) and let Bukit Aman decide. We have informed the state government about this and the status (no personnel have reported yet),” he told a news conference at the state contingent headquarters here today.

Yesterday, the Sarawak State Secretary’s Office, in a statement, said the decision on the transfer of nine police personnel believed involved in an extortion case in Gombak recently to Sabah and Sarawak would be reviewed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) management.

On another matter, Azman said 358 individuals were arrested under the Operasi Tapis Khas from July 27 to 29 for offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Police also confiscated 34 ganja plants, the largest ganja seizure in the state in three years, he added.

Also seized were 131.47 grammes of syabu, 1.85 grammes of ganja and 1.5 litres of ketum juice, with the drugs seized worth a total of about RM69,618.

He said the biggest seizure worth RM56,420 was made in Sibu district, followed by Kuching (RM4,970) and Miri (RM4,576).

In KOTA KINABALU, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani confirmed that the nine personnel had yet to be transferred to Sabah or Sarawak.

PDRM took note of the feedback from the Sabah and Sarawak governments and its Management Department would be taking the necessary follow-up action, including reviewing the transfer order, he told a press conference after the Op Bersepadu Khazanah meeting today.

“Thank you for the feedback from the Sarawak and Sabah governments. Any announcement on this matter will be made by the PDRM Corporate Communications Unit,” he added.
