PUTRAJAYA, Sept 19 — The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will replace the Tourism Industry Licensing System (SPIP) with the Tourism Licensing and Enforcement System (TOURLIST) starting Nov 1.
MOTAC said the existing SPIP system will be closed from Oct 1 to make way for the deployment phase of the TOURLIST system which is expected to go live on Nov 1.
SPIP is MOTAC’s portal for tourism sector licensing matters including applications, renewals and changes to the sector’s licence status.
Following the shutting down of the SPIP system, the deadline for all licence applications in SPIP such as a licence for tour operating business and travel agency business (TOBTAB), tourism training institutes, tour guides, tour buses and rental cars (Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan) and applications for registration of tourism accommodation premises is on Sept 30.
“All application data that has been successfully processed and approved through the SPIP system will be migrated to the TOURLIST system and check on approval status can be made on the system,” said MOTAC in a statement today.
Unsuccessful applications or applications that are incompletely processed will not be migrated to the TOURLIST system. However, applications that are incompletely processed can be re-applied in the TOURLIST system and are eligible to claim the payment of the processing fee that has been made in SPIP.
MOTAC said that during the SPIP closure period, applicants can still submit applications manually at the counter of the Tourism Licensing and Enforcement Division (BPPP), MOTAC and the state MOTAC offices by submitting a physical application form that can be found at www.motac.gov.my from Oct 1.
MOTAC, through BPPP, will hold a ‘Pre-TOURLIST Go-Live’ pilot activities from Oct 27 to 30, involving selected industry players, to record and identify room for improvement of the TOURLIST system.
“The adoption of this technology is to improve the quality of delivery, ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem and expanding accessibility to tourism and cultural products and services,” said MOTAC, adding that it always supports the process of documenting and cultivating work online.
