LANGKAWI, Oct 16 — Students who received devices under the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Student Device) programme are satisfied with the quality of the items, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said he had received a very good response from the students, adding that most of them were also grateful after receiving the latest higher-capacity model.

“Yes, they (students) are very satisfied. It so happened that we took the approach of discussing with the students before we chose this model, trying out various models. We picked students from a few varieties, we gave them several types of devices.

“They tried them out to ensure whether the devices are suitable or not with the lessons and work they have… many did not know that this model is more powerful than a laptop,” he told reporters after presenting the devices to students at the Langkawi Vocational College here today.

Elaborating, Annuar said his ministry was committed and serious about ensuring every one of the more than 200,000 approved applicants would receive their devices by end of this month.

He said the remaining more than 200,000 applications were still undergoing the approval process, adding that the devices for these students would be distributed by the end of November.

“This is because I have set my own KPI (key performance indicator), all these must be settled this year although I understand that this is quite a huge amount. The government has never managed such a big number of devices and, even then, it was only on the campuses.

“Now, when I opened it to secondary schools, you must understand that some are in the interior and rural areas. So, logistically the delivery and so on are very challenging,” he said.
