KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — The Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) will be merged with the ASEAN-level Cyber Defence and Security Asia Expo and Conference (Cyber DSA) which will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Aug 15 to Aug 17 next year.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the event will convene cyber industry players from the Asian region including professionals in the private and public sectors as well as security and military personnel, to bring the industry towards excellence.

He congratulated CyberSecurity Malaysia for building a reputation for CSM-ACE and laying the foundation for it to become a well-known and prestigious event at the international level.

“I am confident that Cyber DSA will be successful and can bring a new dimension in the process of sustaining the field of cyber security in Malaysia,” he said at the CyberSecurity Malaysia Silver Jubilee ceremony in conjunction with CSM-ACE 2022 here tonight.

His speech text was read out by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the theme highlighted at the CSM-ACE 2022 event namely  #Cyberhygiene was in line with the global and local cyber environment that is sophisticated, dynamic and challenging.

“The theme becomes the routine to be practised by organisations to ensure their network systems security is always protected from cyber-threats and cyber-attacks, minimise the risk of operational disruption, compromise and data loss by improving security posture which will lead to digitalisation of the economy,” he said.

Annuar called on the people to check the health level of the network that they are using and learn to create strong passwords, back up information consistently, and update and upgrade regularly used software and hardware including devices to avoid becoming victims of cyber threats.

CSM-ACE 2022, which kicked off on Oct 17 and ends tomorrow, is an annual event featuring three components, namely the Malaysian Cyber Security Awards, conferences and exhibitions.

Annuar said the Malaysia Cyber Security Awards recognised the contributions of global organisations, local small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs), cyber security professionals and individuals in the field of cyber security.

A total of 19 recipients were honoured at the ceremony.
