JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 3 — Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) described the target set by the party leadership to win 20 out of 26 parliamentary seats in the state in the 15th General Election (GE15) as difficult but possible.

Its chairman, Datuk Hasni Mohammad, said apart from formulating suitable strategies, BN’s landslide victory in the state election last March could spearhead the momentum for Johor BN to ensure victory in the GE15.

He said Johor BN is optimistic that it would not have problems winning at least 16 seats, with four other seats expected to be contributed by its component parties, such as MCA.

“It’s possible to achieve the 20-seat target, but we really have to work hard. No issue shall be deemed trivial,” he told reporters after introducing Johor BN candidates for the GE15, here today.

BN general election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan when launching the Johor BN election machinery yesterday reiterated the target set for Johor BN to win at least 20 out of 26 parliamentary seats available in the state.

On the strategies to win the hearts of the voters, Hasni said apart from utilising social media to explain all issues at the state and national levels, the face-to-face campaign would also be intensified.

“BN strength will be the face-to-face campaign as we have larger machinery and number of workers to help our candidates compared to the machinery used during the state election,” he said.

The Election Commission (EC) has set the polling day for GE15 on Nov 19, nomination on Nov 5 and early voting on Nov 15.
