BANGKOK, Nov 15 — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen missed meetings at the G20 Summit in Bali after testing positive for COVID-19.

This comes two days after he met world leaders including US President Joe Biden and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the Association Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Hun Sen who is the current chair of ASEAN said he tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival in Indonesia.

Hun Sen said he did not experience any symptoms.

“Now, I have tested positive for COVID-19.

“For safety purposes, Cambodian delegation will return home on Tuesday,” he wrote adding that he had been tested every day including before departure to G20 and the results had been negative.

He said the Indonesians took a sample upon his arrival on Monday and the result confirmed he is tested positive COVID-19.

Hun Sen said it was “lucky” that he arrived late in Bali where he missed a dinner with other leaders.

He will miss meetings with leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron at the APEC Summit this week.
