SEREMBAN, Nov 20 — Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has won the Rembau parliamentary seat for the 15th General Election (GE15) with a 19,897-vote majority.

The parliamentary seat Returning Officer, Mohamad Najib Mustafa made the announcement at Dewan Sri Rembau here.

The UMNO deputy president managed to obtain 53,075 votes to defeat Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Jufitri Joha (33,178 votes); Perikatan Nasional candidate Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus (21,875 votes); S.Tinagaran of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (779 votes) and Pejuang candidate Ramly Awaluddin (529 votes).

Mohamad retained BN’s victory in the constituency won by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin for three terms since 2008.

The Rantau assemblyman had served as Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar for four terms beginning in 2004 and has an extensive business experience including as a member of the Sepang International Circuit and Khazanah Nasional Berhad Board of Directors.
