KUALA KANGSAR, Nov 22 — Sungai Rapat state assemblyman Datuk Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin will use his experience as a former Menteri Besar and state executive councillor to strengthen the administration of the new Perak government.

He said a formula would be introduced to improve the prosperity of the people from the economic and social aspects in the new political landscape by burying the disagreements between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) over the years.

“God willing, I will use my experience and skills during 11 months as Menteri Besar of Perak and the last 14 years and 22 months as state investment exco to strengthen this government for the good of the people,” he told a press conference here today.

Nizar (PH-Amanah) was among the 10 assemblymen who took the oath of office as state executive councillors before the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah at Istana Iskandariah here today.

They are three BN assemblymen from UMNO while PH is represented by four from DAP, two from PKR and one from Amanah.

Nizar said the unity government formed by PH and BN will work to solve the high cost of living for the benefit of the people of Perak.

According to him, all 10 state exco members are expected to attend the first meeting at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in Ipoh after reporting to office tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, Teja assemblyman from PH-PKR Sandrea Ng Shy Ching said she believed that PH and BN have struck an understanding in setting aside their differences and work together to meet the people’s expectations of the new government for the sake of the state’s economic development.

“Overall, I will focus on bringing policies that can solve people’s problems such as the cost of living, development of basic facilities and economic development. I also see that racial sentiments being played out must be dealt with for the good of all,” she told Bernama.

PH and BN agreed to cooperate to form the state government after they won 24 and nine seats respectively in the 15th General Election (GE15) while Perikatan Nasional (PN) won 26 seats.

The Perak state government was previously formed by a combination of the three parties of BN, Bersatu and PAS.
