ARAU, Nov 22 — The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail has given his consent for the swearing-in ceremony for the new Menteri Besar to be held at Istana Arau at 4 pm today.
According to a media statement issued by Istana Arau, a state assemblyman would receive the letter of appointment from Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin before taking the oath of office as the new Menteri Besar before the Perlis Ruler.
In a related development, the Raja of Perlis yesterday granted an audience to all 14 assemblymen from Perikatan Nasional (PN) who successfully formed the new state government after the recently concluded 15th General Election.
Also in attendance was the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
The night before, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also granted an audience to PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to present the name of the new Perlis Menteri Besar candidate from the coalition chairman for his consideration and approval.
Also present were PN Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and treasurer-general Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
