KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 — Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Larry Sng hailed his designated successor and former Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin for joining Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s Muafakat Nasional non-governmental organisation after losing in the 15th general election last month.

He believes it is a positive development that can catapult her future political ambitions, news portal Free Malaysia Today reported.

“This is a good move for her since she has more time on her hands, especially now that she is not holding any senior position in PBM or any government role.

“I also foresee that she and her supporters will use Muafakat Nasional as a springboard for her future political ambitions.

“Nonetheless, I wish her well,” Sng told the news portal last night.

The Julau MP was commenting on Annuar’s Facebook posting yesterday where he thanked Zuraida for joining Muafakat Nasional which he registered using the same name as the former Malay-Muslim political alliance between Umno and Pas.

However, Sng stressed that PBM was not in any way linked with Muafakat Nasional, which is an NGO aimed in fostering cooperation and unity among Muslims and strengthening the political system, based on the Rukun Negara and Federal Constitution.

Annuar, who helms Muafakat Nasional, claimed last Monday that the NGO had received more than 10,000 membership applications online within 24 hours.

The former long-serving Ketereh MP was sacked from Umno last week for being critical of party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He was also not fielded as a candidate in the 15th general election.

Zuraida, the former plantation industries and commodities minister, failed to defend her Ampang seat under PBM for GE15.

The parliamentary constituency was won by Pakatan Harapan’s Rodziah Ismail.
