SEREMBAN, Jan 4 — Prof Datuk Dr Muhammad Tauffik Mohd Noor has been appointed as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

The appointment is for three years and takes effect yesterday, according to USIM in a statement today.

According to the statement, Dr Muhammad Tauffik has been a professor in the field of Family Medicine at USIM’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2013.

Prior to that, he was with the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1994-2004) and then at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (2005-2013).

He was also appointed as a member of the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) from 2011-2013 and an evaluation panel for medical programmes at higher education institutions in Malaysia, as well as in Tunisia and Morocco.

As a medical professor with eight years of academic and clinical experience in Sabah, he was appointed Malaysia’s representative in international organisations, such as the  Rural Health Action Party and the World Family Doctor (WONCA).

“It is hoped that the expertise and experience possessed, he can empower the research and innovation agenda and drive USIM forward,” read the statement.
