KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 – The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) aims to rake in as much as RM500,000 worth of sales through the organisation of Sarawak FAMA Fest 2023 (SAFF 2023) which is taking place from today until February 26.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Chan Foong Hin said the programme aims to highlight and promote food products produced by local entrepreneurs to the local community, especially in Miri, Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.

He said SAFF 2023 which is located at Bintang Mega Mall, Miri, Sarawak is also a meeting ground between government agencies, farmers and entrepreneurs in offering a variety of products and services at reasonable prices that consumers can afford.

“FAMA is also targeting 20 thousand visitors with a sales value of RM500,000 through SAFF 2023,” he said in a statement today.

The programme which starts from 10 am to 10 pm also involves various interesting activities including business matching sessions, direct farm marketing, cooking demonstrations, bermukun (entertainment activities of the Sarawak Malay community), and cooking competitions.

FAMA targets a potential export value of RM3 million through business matching sessions.

For this purpose, FAMA will find local entrepreneurs with marketing agents from Brunei, Thailand, Hong Kong, and China to help expand the domestic agro-food product market to the global market, especially the products produced by Sarawak entrepreneurs.

“It aims to encourage entrepreneurs to explore a wider and profitable global market through marketing agents who have marketing outlets or key accounts in their respective destinations,” according to the statement.
