WASHINGTON, March 1 – At least 16 people were killed when a passenger train and a cargo train collided in the municipality of Elassona in northern Greece, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported according to reports.

Eighty-five people were also injured, said Vassilis Vathrakogiannis, the representative of the Fire Service, as quoted by Greece’s public broadcaster ERT.

The reports added that several carriages came off the rails, and at least three of them caught fire.

At least 30 ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
