KLANG, March 3 – A family was traumatised by a group of armed robbers who stormed into their house in Taman Sri Andalas here and fled with cash and jewellery.

One of them suffered injuries to a finger while holding on to the door as the suspects were attempting to break into the premises.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said four men, who arrived in a car believed to be using a fake number plate, entered the bungalow at about 8.45am yesterday.

He said the suspects were wearing masks and gloves, and wielding machetes.

“Three family members, a man and two women aged between 44 and 88, were at home then.

“The robbers confined the family in the master bedroom. One of them snatched away the necklaces worn by two victims,” he added.

ACP Cha said the robbers then ransacked the house and checked through the victims’ bags for valuables before fleeing with some jewellery, estimated at about RM24,000, a cellphone and RM800 in cash.

The CCTV footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

ACP Cha said police were in the midst of tracking down the suspects while urging those with information on their whereabouts to call the Klang district police headquarters at 03-3376 2222 or the nearest police station.

He added that the case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, a fine and whipping.
