ALOR SETAR, March 5 – The largest Interactive Children’s Science Exhibition Gallery in the northern region, the Bahtera Langkasuka, will be built at the Northern Region Branch National Science Centre, near here, and is expected to be completed by October.

Director of the National Science Centre, Mismah Jimbun said the maritime-themed exhibition gallery, to be built on a 500 square metre area that can accommodate up to 100 visitors at a time, aims to take visitors on a scientific exploration of the sea.

“This gallery is presented with a conducive environment and attractive design as well as being interactive and hands-on to spark the fun of learning, arouse interest and develop children’s minds,” she said in a statement today.

Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup also made a working visit to the science centre today to monitor the construction and development of the exhibition gallery.

Mismah said the exhibition gallery will feature interactive exhibits ranging from the concept of children’s cognitive development to exhibits with the concept of digital literacy that is in line with the latest trends.

“The Bahtera Langkasuka Gallery will be divided into two zones, namely the Smart Admiral for children aged seven to 12 and the Little Captain for children aged one to six. The gallery will also house 11 interactive exhibits that are in line with the development of the latest trends for children,” she said.

She expects the science centre to attract 20,000 visitors from around the northern region once it is completed.
