KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was brought to the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex here to face six charges under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.

Muhyiddin, 75, who was clad in a dark-coloured suit arrived at the court in a Toyota Alphard minivan at 8.40 am accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.

The former prime minister, who is Pagoh Member of Parliament, was a picture of calm as he walked into the court building, smiling at the media and the crowd.

His family members and children were also seen at the court to lend support to the politician.

The Bersatu president will be charged under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, and Section 4(1)b of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities  Act 2001.

He was called to the MACC office in Putrajaya yesterday and was arrested at 1 pm, before he was released on MACC bail at 8.20 pm.

MACC had earlier frozen the accounts of Bersatu and charged several individuals, including former Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu division deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad, in court in connection with Jana Wibawa projects to help Bumiputera contractors.

Meanwhile, media representatives from various agencies started gathering at the court complex as early as 7 am today to record photos and videos of the former prime minister’s arrival and cover the case.
