KAMPAR, April 11 — The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah today officially opens the As-Syuhada Mosque in Taman Bandar Baru here and breaks his fast with the people. 

His Royal Highness was welcomed on arrival at 7 pm by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and several state executive councillors. 

Also present were Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini, Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) director Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim and Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

Immediately upon arrival, Sultan Nazrin planted a Bucida Batik tree and inaugurated the mosque before the ceremony continued with the recital of the opening prayer and verses from the Al-Quran.

The Perak ruler also participated in a tahlil ceremony and doa selamat before breaking fast with about 1,200 congregants.

Sultan Nazrin then performed Maghrib prayers and attended a dinner followed by the congregational Isyak and Terawih prayers.

Later, His Royal Highness consented to a photo session and moreh refreshments before departing at 10.10 pm.
