KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 – The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) successfully helped and guided 300 women who are breadwinners, single mothers and those who had lost their source of income through the MyKasih Kapital business mentoring course, an initiative under the Wanita Bangkit@KWPKM programme.
KPWKM, in a statement, said that the course conducted in Lahad Datu, Sabah today was officiated by its Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri to mobilise the programme which has received 4,130 participants so far.
“The ministry’s objective through the MyKasih Kapital initiative is to empower the economy of the target group and improve the living standards of women who need immediate financial assistance to start a business through the help of MyKasih Kapital,” the statement read.
To date, the Bangkit@KPWKM Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme has guided and developed a total of 18,900 women across the country through entrepreneurship courses and business start-up guidance with the strategic collaboration of various departments, agencies and corporate companies.
This approach is to optimise individual potential based on skills in business to generate income, the statement read.
“The course provided is basic preparation for women to start e-commerce businesses, dropships and small businesses that are not under the entrepreneurship scheme offered by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Ministry, the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia,” it said.
The ministry said that the ‘psychoeducation’ aspect is also the main focus of the programme so that the women involved are guided by registered counsellors from local social support centres on how to recognise their own potential.
It said that by recognising and sharing their own self-potential, participants can provide awareness and exploration of new knowledge through emotional support that can build resilience to start a new life after loss of income due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, divorce, physical or emotional abuse and increased cost of living.
KPWKM is also committed to efforts taken to dignify women in socio-economic aspects and is confident that the initiative can help the affected groups, the statement read further.
