ALOR GAJAH, April 18 — The Syawal Madani Special Sale which began on April 15 has recorded RM4.5 million in sales so far, says Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
He said this involved 1,462 entrepreneurs at 38 marketing outlets of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) throughout the country.
“Looking at the positive development recorded in just these three days, we will also have this kind of programme during other major festivals, such as Raya Haji, Deepavali and Christmas.
“At the same time, the target of reaching RM13 million in sales can also be realised within the next two days (before Syawal),” he told reporters after attending the Ramadan Tour Programme with Melaka state entrepreneurs at Padang Sebang here today.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Defence and Alor Gajah MP, Adly Zahari, and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority’s (FAMA) acting director-general Rashid Bahri.
Earlier during the event, a total of 160 ‘asnaf’ (tithe recipients) and FAMA staff received donations in the form of food kits, while 40 orphans and 20 single mothers also received Raya money.
