KUALA KANGSAR, June 2 — The Laksa Kuale Festival which has been seen to be able to attract more tourists to the state, will be organised as a yearly event, said State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee.

Loh said visitors to the festival are given the opportunity to have a taste of a variety of laksa dishes from several  districts in Perak as well as other states, including the flavoursome Sarawak laksa.

He said indirectly, the festival will be an occasion to create friendship between people from all states and to learn more about the cultural norms of other states.

“We (the state government) will also try to make this festival a large scale event  which will therefore allow laksa entrepreneurs to generate income and create a large business network, ” he told reporters when met here today.

Earlier, the Raja Puan Besar of Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah graced the opening of the Laksa Kuale Festival at Arena Kuala Kangsar.

Meanwhile, Loh said some 10,000 visitors are expected at the two-day festival which begins today.
