JOHOR BAHRU, June 18 — Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) does not take allegations involving integrity or leaks in the agency’s administration lightly or brush them aside, says its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

He said so far, he is satisfied with the management of MARA and will always ensures the agency’s governance is at the best level which is evident with the appointment of the former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim and economic expert Prof Tan Sri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali as MARA council members.

“…we have a fairly strict governance and even at the MARA Council level we have new appointments under which there are various positions of authority. This is one example of how we want to ensure governance is at the best level.

“So, whatever the assumptions (allegations) are, we will of course examine them. We will not just brush them off,” he told reporters after the walkabout in conjunction with Johor MARA Educational Institution Carnival Tour at Plaza Larkin, here, today.

Asyraf Wajdi said his target is to ensure zero corruption and no element of misconduct involving the integrity of the agency that carries the people’s trust.

He said this when asked about the poison pen letter that was addressed to him and went viral on the Telegram application yesterday highlighting allegations of leakage in MARA’s management, especially involving the entrepreneurial sector.

Meanwhile, on the courses and sponsorship under MARA, Asyraf Wajdi said the institution strives to ensure the marketability of its graduates besides looking at how they can contribute to national development.

As of today, there are 287 educational institutions under MARA across the country of which 269 are related to TVET, he said, adding MARA is expected to offer 20,000 new sponsorships this year starting in the July semester.
