BALING, July 4 — Residents of Kampung Iboi still face a long list of problems which have yet to be resolved after the water surge phenomenon and floods of debris that befell them one year ago today.

Kedah State Unity Leadership Council chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the list of 32 issues was brought up to him by the village representatives.

He said, resolving the issues promptly and rebuilding the village would require the concerted efforts of the federal and state governments.

“These are problems that can be easily resolved if there is coordination between all the state and federal agencies,” he said after attending a one-year anniversary memorial of the tragedy, here today.

Also present were Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar and Kedah UMNO liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

Mahdzir said, due to the lack of coordination, even developments that were approved have not been carried out, much to the detriment of the villagers.

He said the list of problems will be brought up with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other related ministries for immediate action.

Mahdzir said, based on his experience as the former Kedah Menteri Besar and former Rural Development Minister all planned developments should be completed within a year.

“I am not saying the current Kedah Menteri Besar has neglected it…but I do not know what he is doing,” he said.
