KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has expressed appreciation for the government’s commitment to review the Public Service Remuneration Scheme.
Its president Datuk Adnan Mat said the review included the formation of a special committee to study improvements to staffing, remuneration, organisational development and talent management.
He said the committee had conducted engagement sessions according to the six clusters set, namely health, education, science and technology, security, technical and management.
Adnan said Cuepacs was satisfied with each cluster’s engagement session led by the Chief Secretary to the Government, who is responsible for ensuring inclusive participation of all ministries, departments and employee representatives including the union.
“This move proves Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s determination to develop comprehensive remuneration for civil servants and his desire for civil servants to be included in the study of this new scheme,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Adnan said the government’s announcement on the monthly RM300 aid for non-pensionable veterans from the age of 60 effective September, which had never happened before, demonstrated the prime minister’s concern over the welfare of civil servants.
He said the prime minister’s seriousness in looking after the welfare of civil servants can also be seen through the provision of a special additional annual salary increment (KGT) of RM100 as well as various other special assistance from time to time.
