IPOH, Aug 16 — In conjunction with the National Month, the Perak government in collaboration with the Information Department (JaPen) is hosting a series of competitions from Aug 14 to 25 with prizes worth RM25,000 up to be won.
Perak JaPen director Mohd Rizal Hashim said the competitions, open to all Perak residents, aimed to boost the patriotic spirit through creativity and knowledge and express love for the country.
“The competitions are Pertandingan Keceriaan Bulan Kebangsaan, Merdeka Tiktok Video Contest, Mobile Instagram Photo Contest and Online Crossword Competition,” he told a press conference today.
Mohd Rizal said the ‘Keceriaan’ competition’s main objective was to strengthen the patriotic spirit through creativity and innovation in flying the national flag Jalur Gemilang.
It is divided into three categories, namely, secondary schools, primary schools and government/private buildings.
“The winner will receive RM3,000, the runner-up RM2,000 and the third place RM1,000, as well as a plaque and a certificate,” he said.
On the Merdeka Tiktok video competition, he said participants must produce a creative video of at least 30 seconds to showcase the spirit of independence using elements of the state’s culture, history, iconic buildings, or any other suitable theme.
The first place prize is RM700 cash, second place (RM500) and third place (RM300), and five consolation prizes of RM150 each.
As for the Mobile Instagram Photo Competition, participants can capture the moments of National Month that highlight the elements of nationalism, natural beauty and cultural heritage.
“Simply snap a photo with the Malaysian flag using your smartphone. The top three winners will receive RM700, RM500 and RM300. We’re also giving away five consolation prizes of RM150 each,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Rizal said the online crossword competition covers topics such as independence and the history of the country and Perak.
In addition, participants must create a slogan to express the meaning of independence with the theme of Malaysia MADANI and Perak Sejahtera 2030.
“Winners will be selected based on correct answers and catchy slogans. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of RM500 cash, second place (RM300), third place (RM200) and 10 consolation prizes worth RM100 each,” he said.
