KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — A parachute performance that will grace the skies of Putrajaya is set to become the highlight of this year’s National Day celebration.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said it would be presented by the Royal Malaysia Police VAT69 commandos.
“This year’s celebration is special because apart from the aerial displays, it will feature a special parachute performance by VAT69 commandos.
“We have also requested the National Unity Ministry to create a special segment highlighting unity in response to the call made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong to instil unity among the society,” he said when appearing as a guest on the Malaysia Hari Ini programme aired by TV3 today.
He said preparations for the National Day 2023 celebration, themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’, to be held at Dataran Putrajaya were going well.
“I will visit the venue this Saturday to check the preparations. Insya-Allah, everything will go smoothly,” he said.
At the same time, Fahmi advised the public to come early to avoid traffic congestion by either taking their own vehicle or using public transport services, adding that shuttle buses would be available.

“I hope the people can come on Aug 31, possibly after Subuh prayer. If they want to pray first, we have a mosque in Putrajaya, and they can come to Dataran Putrajaya immediately afterwards.
“We have made arrangements to host up to 100,000 visitors and food stalls will be set up in a carnival-style layout, insya-Allah.
“So let us all watch the glorious National Day parade. If you can’t make it there, watch it on television,” he said.
