IPOH, Sept 9 — The two-day Ipoh Auto Carnival, which began yesterday and received a good response from motorsports fans, will be proposed to be listed in the Perak tourism calendar next year, said State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee.

Loh said the carnival was seen to be able to attract both local and foreign tourists, especially from neighbouring countries, who are motoring enthusiasts.

“Today’s programme also received the participation of foreign tourists such as Singaporeans, and we hope to organise a larger carnival in the future. We will discuss this programme to be included in the tourism calendar as one of the programmes to attract more tourists to this state,” he said in a press conference here today after officiating the carnival at the Indera Mulia Stadium.

He said the carnival opens from 10 am to 10 pm, and is expected to attract 20,000 visitors.

It features various attractions such as car exhibitions and drag racing as well as sales of auto goods.

Meanwhile, Loh said the state government would work with the relevant ministries to ensure the success of the Visit Perak Year 2024, including requesting additional allocations and planning strategies to improve transport connectivity to tourist destinations.
