MELAKA, Oct 6 — The Melaka state government has assured that the prices of tourism packages offered during Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024) are reasonable despite the increase in costs.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said it was in line with Melaka’s status as a reasonable-price tourism city and the state government’s mission to achieve the target of drawing 18 million tourists to visit Melaka.

“At this MATTA Fair Melaka 2023, we are offering various special packages and if anyone claims there is a price increase, that is not true.  In fact, we are offering discounts of up to 30 per cent.

“So, we assure you (that there is no price increase) considering Melaka is one of the affordable states for the public to visit for holidays, especially during TMM2024,” he said at a media conference after opening MATTA Melaka Fair 2023, here, today.

Also present were Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Vice President Sheikh Awadh Sheikh Abdullah, Tourism Malaysia Domestic and Event Deputy Senior Director Jefri Munir and MATTA Melaka Chapter President Goh Hock Gin.

Elaborating, he said the state government is in the final stages of promoting TMM2024 such as conducting a series of tours to every state in the country, including Sabah and Sarawak which will take place next month.

“We will also intensify this campaign through the activation of the mobile Tourism Information Centre (TIC) under the Tourism Promotions Division as well as carrying out promotional activities through motorised convoys across the state.

“We will also organise interesting programmes including the Hot Air Balloon Festival soon to promote TMM2024,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the committee and relevant agencies will start promoting Pulau Undan, Pulau Nangka and Pulau Dodol which were gazetted as the National Marine Park in April.
