IPOH, Oct 24 — The police have arrested four men suspected of obstructing public servants from performing their duties during an integrated operation at the Silver Valley Technology Park project site in Kanthan Baru, Chemor today.

Ipoh District Police chief ACP Yahaya Hassan in a statement said those arrested were three men from a political party, aged between 30 and 68, and a 53-year-old farmer.

He said police detected several viral videos on social media posted by a political party, depicting incidents during the enforcement of Section 425 of the National Land Code 1965 at the project site, which had caught the attention of the public.

“This integrated operation was led by the State Land and Mines Office (PTG) and involved several state government agencies and statutory bodies. The Ipoh district police were responsible for maintaining security throughout the operation.

“During the operation at 2.30 pm, a group of farmers and members of a political party obstructed PTG officers from enforcing Section 425 of the National Land Code 1965,” he said, adding that the incident led to the apprehension of the four men.

Yahaya said a police report was also filed regarding the arrests, and all suspects are being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from performing their duties.

All suspects were released on police bail after the investigation process was completed, he added.

Yahaya said they also received a police report from PTG regarding a woman suspected to be a member of the political party, obstructing PTG vehicles during their operation there, adding that the case is also being investigated under the same section.

“The integrated operation was successfully carried out, and the farmers and political party members gathered in the operation area dispersed peacefully around 2.45 pm,” he said.
