SHANGHAI, Nov 14 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof wants the Malaysian diaspora in Shanghai to act as the bridge in people-to-people contact by helping to foster better understanding in terms of cross-cultural and social fabrics ties with societies all over the world.
Fadillah, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister said that there are seamless ways for the diaspora to harness theirs talents here.
“I was made to understand that there are many Malaysian citizens living in China who have long contributed to the friendly relations between the two countries.
“I was also informed that Malaysians here, both individually and in groups, have equally provided undivided support to the Consulate and to each other during the pandemic episode in Shanghai, in addition to obeying the orders of the host government,” he said in his speech at a Majlis Ramah Mesra with Malaysians living here today.
Also present were Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, Malaysian Consul General in Shanghai Syed Farizal Aminy Syed Mohamad, Ministry of Plantation and Commodities deputy secretary-general Abdul Hadi Omar.
Fadillah also updated about 160 attendees today on the government’s efforts to further enhance its economic development with the introduction of a series of policies recently, namely the Madani Economy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the New Industrial Masterplan 2030 (NIMP 2030), to drive the economy forward.
On top of that, the newly approved 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review has also revealed a shift in focus and direction by taking into account the new policy of good governance and democratic accountability, as well as the aim to transform Malaysia into a vibrant and successful nation economically, socially and academically.
Fadillah is on his maiden visit to China for seven days starting Nov 12.
