KUCHING, Dec 10 — The Sarawak state government has allocated RM90.5 million for the construction of Jalan Medong, Lebrasau-Klid in the Dalat district, which is situated in the middle of the state.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the project, which spans from Kampung Medong Seberang to Kampung Kekan Seberang, is described as a community project for the convenience of the people.

“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is committed to developing the interior areas as it is the party’s main objective.

“We are lucky to have our leader (Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) who always looks out for the people as promised by GPS.  There are many more developments which will be implemented, this is not just rhetoric but based on set policies,” he said.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Dalat Besaug (regatta) Carnival and the inauguration of the Dalat Waterfront in Dalat today.

Earlier in his speech, Uggah also announced an allocation of RM4.96 million for Phase Three of the Dalat Waterfront project, adding that it is still in the design stage and will be tendered during the first quarter of next year.
