GUA MUSANG, Dec 19 — A total of 474,384 people in Kelantan have enjoyed over RM4.4 million in subsidies provided by the government through the Rahmah Sales Programme implemented by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) since January.

Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail said 679 Rahmah Sales Programme had been held in 14 parliamentary constituencies that focused on B40 areas, with a total sales value exceeding RM24 million.

“This programme greatly benefits consumers, including residents in rural areas, because they can enjoy  discounts of between 10 per cent and 30 per cent.

“In Gua Musang alone, we have conducted 26 series of Rahmah Sales Programme involving RM270,000 in subsidies,” he told reporters after attending the Gerakan Pengguna Daerah Gua Musang Appreciation Night programme at Taman Ethnobotani, here yesterday.

In another development, Azman said a 30 per cent additional quota of essential items had been given to wholesalers throughout the monsoon season.

“So far, we have not received any reports about the increase in the price of goods from consumers and the supply of goods remains under control during the monsoon season.

“We conducted an integrated operation with 14 agencies across the state from Dec 12 to 14 and found no increase in the price of goods; only a few arrests were made over leakages of subsidised items such as diesel,” he said.

Azman said that the state KPDN seized assets worth RM1.5 million through an operation dubbed Op Tiris, which was conducted from March 1 to Dec 17 this year.
