MOSCOW, Dec 22 — Some 77 per cent of Russians trust President Vladimir Putin, while 78 per cent approve of his job performance, reported Sputnik based on a new poll by Russia’s Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) released on Friday.

At the same time, the survey found that 13 per cent of respondents do not trust the Russian president.

Meanwhile, 78 per cent of Russians approve of the president’s job performance, and some 9 per cent think otherwise.

The poll was conducted among 1,500 respondents in 53 Russian regions on December 15-17, 2023. The margin of error does not exceed 3.6 per cent.

In December, the Russian upper house scheduled the presidential election to take place from March 15-17, 2024. Later in the month, Putin announced that he would seek reelection as president.
