COLOMBO, Dec 24 — Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has granted a special pardon to 1,004 inmates in view of Christmas Day, spokesman for the Department of Prisons, Gamini B. Dissanayake, said on Sunday, reported Xinhua.
Dissanayake said out of the inmates qualified to receive the presidential pardon, 989 are males and 15 are females.
They will be released on Dec 25, he said.
