KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 – Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has introduced two new diploma courses at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus (KSHAS) in Muadzam Shah, Pahang, in its commitment to improving the quality of education.

UNITEN, in a statement today, said the two new courses are Diploma in Financial Technology and Diploma in Digital Business.

The university is also looking into introducing more programmes that are relevant to the industry, as well as starting a study programme in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at KSHAS.

“The management of KSHAS is discussing with the Skills Development Department (JPK) under the Ministry of Human Resources to make UNITEN KSHAS an accredited centre that offers various TVET.

“This move will involve additional staff, more students, and contribute to the economic development of the local community, with the target number of students totalling between 1,500 to 2,000 people,” read the statement.

In the same statement, UNITEN shared some of the achievements made by KSHAS last year.

They included by student Mohamad Luqman Al-Hafiz who was named the Best Debater of the National Student Parliament 2023 and also four other students who were named the recipients of the Youngpreneur@YTC  UCYP Grant.

 Also of its lecturers, Prof Datuk Dr Salina Daud, who received the Selangor Research Grant for the study of ‘Sustainable Energy Efficiency’, and Siti Fara Fadila Abd Razak, who won three awards at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) Sustainable Energy & Green Technology International Innovation Awards 2023.

Two other lecturers, Masdiah Abdul Hamid and Wan Farhah Shafiy, from the College of Business Management and Accounting, also won gold medals at INOVASI23.

In addition to highlighting achievements in the field of entrepreneurship and research, it said, KSHAS is also active in various voluntary programmes, especially in Pahang.

“This involvement includes an initiative with the Rompin Social Welfare Department (JKM) to help flood victims, the participation of 40 KSHAS students for the Malaysian Child Volunteer Programme (SATRIA) in conjunction with Pahang Youth Day, and organising the presentation of laptops and marriage incentives to the Orang Asli community,” it said.

Last year,  UNITEN KSHAS also organised meetings with the Felda, Cooperative and Entrepreneurs Committee chairman Razali Kassim, local community leaders and Orang Asli students at KSHAS.
