KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — World leading humanoid start-up UBTECH is collaborating with UPM Holdings Sdn Bhd (UPMH) to introduce an AI & Robotics training and education programme in Malaysia.

A statement issued by UPMH today said that UPMH, UBTECH China (UBTECH) and M & N RPATech Sdn Bhd (M & N) yesterday signed a virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the strategic partnership in education.

The MOU was signed by UPMH group chief executive officer Khairul Faizi Khalid, UBTECH Robotics Corp Ltd vice president Paul Wu and M & N RPATech Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Sukhbir Singh Manhore Singh.

“This is an initiative by UPMH to develop and create awareness in the field of AI & Robotics education in Malaysia, which will be proposed for schools, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students and participants from other higher learning institutions who are interested to undertake and learn more in the field of AI & Robotics,” the statement said.

UPMH said about 50 to 100 students were expected to take part in the AI and Robotics education programme in the next three to six months.

Through the collaboration, UPMH hoped to contribute towards AI & Robotics talent development in Malaysia and to help achieve Malaysia’s vision to be South East Asia’s Industry 4.0 hub.

UBTECH, a maker of humanoid robots backed by China technology, is a global leading AI and humanoid robotics company founded in 2012 while UPMH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UPM.
