PETALING JAYA，Jan 29: The health ministry has reported a record high of 5,725 cases Covid-19 cases, breaching the 5,000 mark for the first time. There were also 16 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 3,423 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 157,222.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 203, 933.
There are 47,478 active cases with 301 patients being treated in intensive care and 115 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 16 deaths take the number of fatalities to 733.
