PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 2,998 Covid-19 cases and 22 deaths in the past 24 hours.
The number of deaths have now passed the 1,000-mark.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,709 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 229,762.
In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 272,163.
There are 41,396 active cases with 231 patients being treated in intensive care and 115 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 22 deaths brings the number of fatalities to 1,005.
